The wait of nearly five and a half months is over for farmers across the country. The Prime Minister has released the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-Kisan) scheme by pressing a button from Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The funds have now been officially disbursed.
Fund Transfer Initiated from Varanasi
The Prime Minister has released the ₹2000 installment of the PM Kisan scheme, and the money has started reaching beneficiary accounts. If you have not yet received the funds, do not worry. Banks have begun processing the payments, and the amount should be transferred to your account within 10-20 minutes, half an hour, or an hour.
Under the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi Yojana, the Government of India provides ₹6000 annually to farmers in three installments. The previous 19th installment was released on February 24, 2025.
Details of the 20th Installment Disbursement
The government has transferred funds to 9 crore 70 lakh (97 million) farmer beneficiaries. A total of ₹20,500 crore has been released by the Government of India into the accounts of these farmers.
It is possible for your neighbor to have received the payment while you are still waiting. Since it is not possible to transfer money to 9 crore 70 lakh people in a single second, a little patience is advised.
How the Payment Process Works
The government actually provides the funds to the banks in advance. For example, the money is given to banks about 10 days before the release date, and sometimes even earlier, as was the case this time in June. The banks are instructed to hold the funds and only release them into beneficiary accounts after the Prime Minister officially presses the button to launch the transfer. Now that the button has been pressed, the money has started flowing into accounts.
Eligibility and Exclusions
It is important to note the eligibility criteria for the PM Kisan scheme.
- In the case of a husband and wife, only one person is eligible to receive the payment.
- One family is considered one eligible unit.
- Minor children are not eligible.
- The government has stopped the payments for individuals who are income tax payers or government employees.
