How to Check SIM Card Owner Name | Find SIM Card Details | How to Block SIM Card

This is a guide on how to use the official Government of India portal to see how many SIM cards are registered in your name. We will show you how to check this information, and if you find a number that is not yours, how to get it deactivated directly from the government’s official portal.

Accessing the Government Portal

To begin, you need to open the Google browser on your phone or laptop. In the search bar, you should type “Taf cop” and look for the official government website, which is tafcop.csc.gov.in. This is the official portal of the Government of India. Once you see this link, you need to click on it to proceed.

Understanding the Portal’s Services

Once the portal is open, you will see a photo of the current minister, Mr. Jyotiraditya Rao Madhav Rao Scindia. On this page, you need to look for and click on the “Citizen Centric Service” option.

This portal offers several important services. You can “Block Your Lost/Stolen Mobile Phone” if your phone has been stolen or lost. Over 2,552,000 people have used this service to block their phones, and the government has successfully found and returned 1,529,000 of those phones. You can also check your mobile connections. To date, 1 crore (10 million) people have used this portal to deactivate fraudulent SIM cards registered in their names.

How to Check Your Mobile Connections

To check how many SIMs are active in your name, scroll down and find the option “Know Your Mobile Connections” and click on it. You will be taken to a new page where you need to enter your mobile number and the captcha code shown on the screen. After filling this, you will receive an OTP on your mobile number, which you must enter to proceed.

Once you log in, the portal will show you all the mobile numbers registered under your name. For example, it might show that you have four SIM cards. The portal displays the first two and the last four digits of each mobile number for identification. You can then review this list to see if all the numbers belong to you.

How to Report and Block an Unknown Number

If you see a number on the list that you do not recognize or that does not belong to you, you can get it blocked immediately. To do this, you must select the checkbox next to the number you want to report. After selecting the number, click on the option that says “Not My Number” and then click the “Report” button.

When you click report, a request is immediately sent. From the government’s perspective, that number is registered to your ID, which is why it appeared on your list.

What Happens After You Submit a Report?

After you submit a report, the government and the SIM card company will take action. The person who is currently using that SIM card will be contacted and informed that a request has been made to disconnect it by the registered owner. They will be asked to verify their identity by providing proof, such as an Aadhaar card. If they fail to verify their ownership, the SIM card will be blocked within seven days.

Tracking Your Request

When you submit a report to block a number, you are given a request number. You can use this request number on the portal to track the status of your complaint. This allows you to see the progress of the action and confirm whether the fraudulent SIM card has been blocked or not. This way, you can check which numbers are registered to you and deactivate any unwanted ones directly from your mobile phone in just a minute.
