7 Must-Have Government Mobile Apps for Every Indian in 2025 The government has launched seven new mobile applications that every Indian citizen should have on their phone in 2025. These applications are designed to make many significant tasks manageable in just a few clicks. ### 1. New Aadhaar App Recently launched by UIDAI, the New Aadhaar App is currently in its beta phase. When you log in, the application provides you with a new format for your Aadhaar card. This app changes the way you share your Aadhaar, eliminating the need for physical photocopies. The government has introduced a QR code feature, similar to how you make a UPI payment. You can now share your Aadhaar by simply scanning a QR code. Whether you are checking into a hotel, entering an airport, at an exam center, or collecting rations, you can scan the provided QR code to authenticate yourself. This digitally shares your Aadhaar card, removing the need for a physical copy. The app also includes a “Selective Share” feature, allowing you to choose which specific information you want to share. For instance, you can choose not to share your address by un-ticking it. While the app is available on the Play Store, it is still in beta and some features are missing. The government has stated that future versions will allow users to make corrections to their name, date of birth, or mobile number, but these features are not yet available. ### 2. MyScheme App The government runs numerous schemes, but many people are unaware of them or don’t know which ones they are eligible for. The MyScheme app solves this problem. This application has integrated over 2000 government schemes onto one platform. When you log into the app and enter your information, it shows you a list of all the schemes for which you are eligible. For each scheme, you can find details about the benefits, how to apply, and even apply directly through the application itself. It provides information on a wide range of schemes, including those for farmers, loan programs, and scholarships. This app is available on the Play Store and is worth checking to see if you are missing out on any benefits. ### 3. Rail One App Indian Railways has recently launched its new Rail One mobile application. This app integrates all of the railway’s features into a single platform. You no longer need separate applications to book reserved, unreserved, or platform tickets; all these tasks can be done within this one app. Additionally, the Rail One app allows you to track the live location of trains and check your coach’s position to know where your compartment is located within the train. ### 4. AIS App The AIS app keeps a record of your financial information. Within this application, you can check your investments, how much profit you have earned from the stock market in a year, and how much you have spent using your credit cards. It also shows your current bank balance and details of any fixed deposits you have. This application reveals how much the government knows about your finances. People often receive notices from the Income Tax Department for high-value credit card or UPI transactions. The AIS app can help prevent this by showing you if you are on “high alert,” giving you advance information to avoid potential trouble. ### 5. DigiYatra App Airport security check-ins often involve very long queues. The DigiYatra app offers a solution by providing a VIP entry experience. To use it, you log in with your Aadhaar, scan your boarding pass or ticket, and then use the special DigiYatra gates at the airport. At these gates, you can enter using face authentication, allowing you to bypass the long lines. It offers a seamless and quick way to get through airport security. ### 6. Sanchar Saathi App If you ever lose your mobile phone, the Sanchar Saathi app can help. Through this application, you can register a complaint to have your phone’s IMEI number blocked. This puts your phone on surveillance, making it unusable for anyone else. If you recover your phone, you can withdraw the complaint through the app. The app also allows you to check the status of your complaint. Furthermore, you can use it to see how many SIM cards are currently active in your name. If you find any fraudulent SIM cards registered to you, you can have them blocked directly from the application, offering significant protection against digital fraud. ### 7. UMANG App The UMANG application brings together services from over 2000 state and central government departments into one place. Whether you need to withdraw your PF, apply for a PAN card, book a gas cylinder, or apply for a passport, you can find all the necessary information and services here. This app allows you to access any state or central government portal and get information on various schemes and their application processes. Recently, the features of the DigiLocker application have also been integrated into UMANG, so you don’t need to download a separate app. Considered India’s super application, UMANG can handle a vast number of tasks from a single platform.
